John Manges
PA Assistant State Officer
John has been the Assistant State Officer for Pennsylvania since 2006, prior to that he was the First Officer for Chapter 336, Chester County and has been a SCRC member since 2002.
My first bike was a 1981 Honda 400 Hawk which I purchased in the Republic of Panama. It was good cheap transportation and other than the rain it was always warm to ride. When I returned to the states I purchased a Yamaha 650 Special and rode that for year and a half until daughter #1 came along and that was it for riding for 17 years. In 2000 I purchased a Yamaha Vstar 1100 Classic and put 27K+ miles on it in 3 years and traded up to my present ride a 2004 Yamaha Midnight Roadstar. Although I do a lot of weekend rides I enjoy long distance riding best. In 2008 I completed an IBA, Iron Butt Association, SS1K, Saddle Sore 1000. That is where you ride 1000+ miles in less than 24 hours. That is one of the initial rides you can do to join the IBA. I also did the NPT, National Park Traveler, IBA ride. I rode in 25 states and collected 61 National Park stamps to complete that one.
